Palm introduced its m100 series of handhelds in August 2000. This line replaced the
immensely popular Palm III series, and is aimed at students, educators, first-time buyers, and
those upgrading from earlier pdas who are looking for a stylish,
versatile, and affordable device. The new Palm m100 had 2 MB RAM and featured a
redesigned contoured case,
more software, and additional customization options including replaceable, colorful,
fashion faceplates. Its flipcover allowed users to see the the clock application
(new in this model) even when closed.
The Palm m105, which was released in March 2001, featured additional memory (8 MB),
internet connection software, and a stylish cradle.
With the Palm m125 introduction in September 2001, this line of handhelds gained dual-expansion
capability (SD/MMC and Palm Universal Connector). This allowed users to choose from
even more software applications, add more memory, and attach add-on accessories such as keyboards and modems.
Color was added to the line with the introduction of the Palm m130 in March 2002. The latest
version in the m100 series features a color screen as well as rechargeable batteries.
